I NEEDED THE MONEY!
We’ve previously agreed that Dr. Nina Simone created some amazing music. As a person, she was openly angry and, yes, a smidgen nuts. Big surprise… she was also not the easiest interview. (Big understatement.) (via jobby’s shared items in Google Reader)

Arrow of the Blue Skinned God by Jonah Blank
jobbi’s review: “Intelligent, non-patronising and thoughtful look at India. Funny and though-provoking anecdotes alternate with snippets from the Ramayana. Perhaps a little short, but then if it were more in-depth it would probably have lost some of its flow.” Image Books (1993), Paperback (via jobbi’s reviews from LibraryThing)

The Dispossessed (Gollancz S.F.) by Ursula Le Guin

American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang, Gene Yang
jobbi’s review: “Poignant, funny graphic novel about a second generation Chinese boy growing up in America interspersed with two other stories about a mythical monkey king and a stereotypical exchange student from China. I identified with the main character a lot - I’d love to read more of this sort of fiction.” First Second (2006), Paperback, 240 pages (via jobbi’s...
